Middle School

Sunday School
We offer fun and educational Sunday School classes for children ages 2 and 3 on up! (A nursery is available and staffed for children under 2.) Discipleship opportunities are offered for all ages from 9:45-10:45am on Sunday mornings from September through May. Parents – See the Adults page for opportunities available for you while your children are in Sunday School.

Overview of the curricula
6th Grade – This year (2011-2012), we are using a lectionary-based curriculum published by Augsburg Fortress for our 2’s and 3’s class through 6th grade. The curriculum contains and mix of Old and New Testament stories, prompting kids to open their Bibles and explore God’s word during each lesson. Please see the Children’s Sunday School page for a complete schedule of lessons.

7th Grade
– This class is going through a survey of the whole Bible, learning the major themes of the scriptures and how the whole Bible fits together as one cohesive story. The curriculum is being designed to supplement what the students are learning in confirmation this year.

8th Grade – This class is working through a curriculum designed and developed by St. John’s members! The curriculum walks students through the history of Christianity, an important area of study that is often overlooked.

Confirmation

“Teach Better. Keep the kids. Equip Parents.”

This is the motto of our confirmation curriculum, developed by Faith Inkubators. The curriculum is designed not to feel like class, but like an “event,” something that the students actually want to go to.
